The downside of dog walking in popular places.

Today, whilst walking the dog, I was invited to clear up the dog shit, by a passing stranger.
In the context of growing up on a farm and understanding the way it is with poo from animals, I generally don't go around picking it up from one place to put it in a plastic bag then in a bin for someone else to deal with. Why do we have such righteous types populating the woods these days? Is it because of the lack of Bears? These fine beasts probably did shit in the woods, don't you know.
It was  a reasonable request, given the popularity of the spot in question. Nobody likes to see it on the streets of a city, town or village, so by extension a well trodden path equally applies. My point is, rather a spade than a plastic bag. Could we adjust the thinking this way?
